Summary/Abstract: Galicia was the last province in the Austro-Hungarian Empire to leave the problem of propination unresolved. The abolition of this relic only at the beginning of 1911 had a colossal impact on the development of factory brewing and the related distribution system. Until the end of 1910, Izrael Huppert was the tenant of the propination in Wadowice. He was also a representative of the breweries in Żywiec and Okocim. These two breweries had a dominant position on the Wadowice market. Small local breweries from Brody, Jaszczurowa, Klecza Dolna, Osiek and Zebrzydowice were of little importance. With the expiration of propination, large breweries started building their own distribution networks. Combining representative offices of several breweries was an exception. Israel Huppert died in 1917. Anna Huppert, Israel's widow, took over the family business. At the beginning of the 1930s, due to her advanced age, she withdrew from professional activity and entrusted most of her affairs to her children. The representative of the brewery in Okocim after Poland regained independence was Anna Huppert. However, in 1927, there were misunderstandings between the partners, as a result of which the brewery in Okocim terminated the contract. The representative of the brewery in Żywiec was Józef Lisko, then Czesław Lisko, and until the outbreak of the war, the company was run by Tadeusz Lisko and Stanisław Froncz. The only local brewery present on the Wadowice market was the plant in Osiek. In the interwar period, the Wadowice market was dominated by the brewery in Żywiec, which had a stable representative office and an established brand.
