Summary/Abstract: The contribution proposes a comparative reading in order to relate contemporary Italian and Romanian literature, through the so-called authors of the Emilia-Po Valley (Ermanno Cavazzoni, Daniele Benati, Paolo Nori) and the Romanian narrator Dan Lungu who can be included in the group of “artists of the memory”. These authors, despite belonging to different generations, to different geographical-historical spaces and dealing with themes that are not exactly similar, share a certain affinity in the representation of certain marginal and alienating worlds that transform themselves into the suitable stage for equally marginal, banal, funny, improbable stories, like a sort of gossip and fantasising fed by equally unusual characters, that deprived of the statute of the hero, appear as bizarre or misfits.
