Summary/Abstract: The identity of the chair of Italian language and literature in Transylvania was defined in the inter-war period thanks to the work of its founder, the linguist Giandomenico Serra (1885-1958) and the Italian lecturers in Cluj, Alessandro Favero (1928-1930), Mario Ruffini (1930-1931), Francesco Anelli (1931-1935) and Ștefan Pașca (1936-1939), who skilfully combined teaching, research and popularisation in their activities.
