Summary/Abstract: Al-Khalil bin Ahmad and his work Al-'Ayn have done great influence on Arabic lexicography. The solutions that applied by A- Khalil in his work, were fully or partly accepted and used by those who tried themselves in the field of lexicology. Al-Khalil bin Ahmad has by this lexicon initiated and directed development of Arabic lexicography and, what is very important, the development of phonetics which is widely applied and plays a great role in the contemporary world.
