Summary/Abstract: History has recorded the appearance of Islam and its later might on the vast territory. The consequence of that the spreading and lasting of Islam, life, deeds and words of the Prophet (p.b.u.h.) and His companions, conquest (fath) and genealogy, were the subject of a vast interest of historians and early Muslim historiography. Although interest for these themes never ended, some other appeared during the curse of the following centuries including general military and political histories, literary histories, local histories of a region or a city, universal histories beginning with the creation of the world and ending with the time of the author, contemporary histories, histories of dynasties and the rulers, biographical dictionaries of prominent people, histories of certain people according to their profession and education, special autobiographies and memoirs. All that applies to the historic works of al-Andalus, since here as well as in the Near East (Mashrik) history was widely fostered following the Oriental methods both in forms and the content. Al-Andalus drew attention of historians and biographers from the Near East (Mashrik). Although their works still are an important source of information about al-Andalus, they can never replace the works of Andalusian authors who, were closely watching the events of their time and very often were their partakers.
