Summary/Abstract: The development of science and appearance of new biomedical technologies in everyday life have contributed to the use of our scientific knowledge to actively study our own biological evolution. At the same time fears of creating a new eugenics were occuring. The main goal of this paper is to present the basic controversy surrounding the use of new biomedical technologies for the improvement of human beings through three concept-theoretical approaches - bioconservatism, transhumanism and view that could be called the middle standpoint. Because of the controversy of its method, transhumanism is often targeted by criticism, which is why a particular focus was placed on theories that object to and defend it.
