Summary/Abstract: In the study, the problems encountered by Northern Iraqi students who learn Turkish as a foreign language in the Turkish Language Department of Zakho University in the process of learning the language are discussed. In order to detect students writing, listening and speaking problems, some tests were applied to the students. Based on the data obtained, solutions to these problems were suggested. A total of 20 students, 13 (thirteen) females and 7 (seven) males, studying at Zakho University Turkish Language Department, participated in the study. To measure the students listening skills, they were made to listen to a pre-prepared text and then a speaking test was administered in the classroom environment. In order to measure the student’s success in writing in Turkish, exam papers from composition and grammar courses were examined. After this entire measurement-evaluation process, an analysis was made on the sounds that the students had difficulty making when speaking Turkish. As a result of the writing, listening and speaking exams administered to the students, it was observed that they had problems with almost all vowel sounds (a, e, ı, u, ü, o, ö) and the 'ğ' sound among the consonant sounds.
