Summary/Abstract: This paper addresses issues related to the religious education experience from the perspective of Catholic religious education in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The first part of the paper provides an overview of the introduction of Catholic religious education into state schools, the position of religious education, and the development of the curriculum and textbooks. It also focuses on the number of students attending Catholic religious education in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the number of religious education teachers, based on previous analyses. The paper emphasizes the role of confessional religious education in fostering intercultural relations, considering that the Council of Europe has issued a series of documents over the last two decades providing guidelines for intercultural education. The emphasis is on educating young people in immigration countries to better understand and learn to establish humane relationships with others.
