Summary/Abstract: In this paper I will investigate different models of democracy for the European Union. I focus on the solutions that stress the importance of trust and mechanisms of democratic control at the supranational level. In that regard, I will consider different models of democracy for the European Union, both those that are state-centered and cosmopolitan. I defend the cosmopolitan model which includes the conception of deliberative democracy.
