Summary/Abstract: The article presents the activities of the Polish Committee for Solidarity with the Peoples of Asia, Africa and Latin America between 1965 and 1990. This organisation was established in 1965 as the Polish Committee for Solidarity with the Peoples of Asia and Africa, and its primary purpose was to maintain relations with some countries and with national liberation movements in the Third World. The article presents the internal and international circumstances of the Committee’s establishment and describes the most important areas of the institution’s activity. It focused on propaganda and educational actions intended to broaden knowledge about decolonisation and the situation in the Third World among Polish people. The Committee also provided material and scholarship assis- tance to selected subjects from Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Its budget, however, was mini- mal compared to similar committees in other socialist countries, and the imposition of martial law in December 1981 severely reduced the already modest possibilities for its national and interna- tional impact.
