Summary/Abstract: The article introduces fundamental vectors and coordinates of the multi-faceted works of the Studia Academica Slovaca Centre for Slovak as a Foreign Language (SAS), which directly or in collaboration with departments of Slovak language and culture affiliated with universities abroad contribute to the development of Slovak studies. As a specialized research and teaching department at the Faculty of Arts of Comenius University in Bratislava, SAS educates foreign students studying at Slovak studies departments at the SAS Summer School and the Centre also offers a wide ranged presence in-class as well as distance teaching study program of Slovak studies during the academic year. It was at the Bratislava-based SAS Centre that the foundations were laid for the academic description and didactics of Slovak as a foreign language. Also, the team at the Centre authored textbooks for students as well as teacher’s books. The didactic strategy includes the hosting of methodology-focused webinars for instructors of Slovak as a foreign language working at schools and universities abroad.
