Summary/Abstract: The subject of the work is the spatial development of urban green areas in the Podgórze Duchackie district in Krakow. The main aim is the identification of the spatial development of green areas in the district and checking the correlation between the development and the ownership structure of land. Getting to know the residents opinion on the spatial development of green areas of the district has been another important aim of the study. The field work proved that the green areas are developed well enough, however there are still many places which can be improved. In terms of ownership the public green areas of the district belong to the Krakow Commune. In the inhabitants opinion there are to few green areas in the district and their development is not so good. The investigation of the subject seem to be important because of the significant number of inhabitants who use the green areas, among all respondents over 99% proved they spend time in green areas of the city.
