Tourism in rural areas of the Małopolskie Voivodeship in the context of natural conditions

Summary/Abstract: The Małopolskie Voivodeship, due to its large spatial diversity, is a good example for illustrating the development of tourism based on natural conditions. Natural resources are a great wealth of the region and offer the possibility of development of large parts of it based on tourism. The study tries to present the natural conditions of tourism in rural and urban-ruralcommunes of the voivodship and in their context, define the level of tourism development in these units. The aim of the study was to analyze the natural conditions of communes in the Małopolskie Voivodeship in terms of suitability for the development of tourism in the region. The conducted research allows to determine how natural conditions influence tourism in the Małopolskie voivodship. Within the Małopolskie Voivodeship there are communes where tourism is the leading socio-economic function. Rural towns in the Małopolskie voivodship are becoming places of special value for rest, recreation and biological regeneration. New opportunities for the development of tourism are created by the improvement of the conditions of communication accessibility to rural areas, for example around the Raba River valley.
