Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the problem of the definition of the term critical thinking: what definitions exist, and how they can be systematised? Several existing definitions are presented in this paper, as well as their evaluation criteria. Coping with such diversity is not easy, but one must try: understanding critical thinking is hardly possible without analysing definitions. This article can be considered the first part of a series devoted to critical thinking.
