Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the functioning of German schools in the interwar Galicia, which developedin less favorable conditions than those in other Polish territories. This was due to the fact that thePolish authorities pursued different national, linguistic, and educational policies towards Germansin various areas inhabited by this minority. As a result, the German population of Galicia underwentassimilation, while German-language schools of the land were partially converted to utraquist schoolsby the government. Attempting to resist such policy, German public, political, and religious activistsfocused their activities on the development of private German-language educational establishmentsof various kinds, having achieved about 60% of German children in the areas receiving primaryeducation in their native language.
