Summary/Abstract: The subject of the article are the latest verbal neologisms in French and the aim of the undertaken research is to determine the contemporary word-formation tendencies of this grammatical category. The research material comes from the French digital platform Néoveille, which selects neologisms from large text corpora. A sample of about 200 new verbs, which were described from the point of view of their formal and semantic properties, was subjected to qualitative analysis. It seems that these features are closely related to the functions that verbal neologisms perform in discourse.
