What is Personality?

Summary/Abstract: The study on personality starts with clarifying the meaning of the word “personality” as a prerequisite for defining the concept of “personality”. A personality is defined not simply as a conscious but also as a self-conscious being, i.e. “consciousness” is the “generic sign” of the concept of “personality” while “self-awareness” is its “characteristic feature”. Whether or not another being has consciousness and self-awareness can be known indirectly only. The self-awareness of others is manifested in their actions and by the latter we judge whether another being is a personality and what kind of personality it is. The other personality’s actions are its mirror to us. Therefore there are many people who define the personality as a being acting in a specific way
