Summary/Abstract: The article attempts to read a book by Michał Książek from a postcolonial perspective. It discusses such issues as the relationship of domination and subordination of the colonizer to the colonized, the phenomenon of transferring traces of Yakut culture to a place where it can safely survive, the use of the map as a tool that gives the Yakutians’ control over territories that historically belong to them. The article also comments on the accusation that its author of Jakuck carries out “metaphorical colonization.”
