Summary/Abstract: According to Aristotle "Rhetoric is the ability of observing, at any given case, the means of persuasion". The Byzantine Empire, as the successor of the Roman Empire, also known in the history as the Eastern Roman Empire, at the foundation for its functioning and regulation had the example of the Great Rome, where the Empire first started, and continued its life in the new center of the Empire - Constantinople. The rhetoric art in ancient Rome was of great significance in everyday life, and rhetoricians always held a special place in the public administration. Cicero was an example of this matter. His word was always respected, and also because of his speeches and public political rhetoric, he was killed. The continuance of rhetoricians is recorded in the Eastern Roman Empire as well. On the Eastern territories of the former Roman empire there were schools and rhetoricians who were leaders in the society or had great influence over the leaders. Libanius, as one of the most famous rhetoricians from the Byzantine east. He was also a teacher from whom Emperor Julian and Saint John Chrysostom learned. People of the Byzantine empire found rhetoric very useful in their everyday life. Hence, the aim of this paper is to elaborate whether the influence of the rhetoric continued, did rhetoricians continue to influence living in the Eastern Rome, what was the influence of the feminine narrative in this male dominated world and whether the rhetoric art developed its own distinctive characteristics.
