Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with issues related to the entry of the Red Army into Kalisz and the presence and activity of it’s military administration in the city. The article also addresses the issues of the formation of municipal authorities and the post-war reconstruction of the city in social, economic and cultural aspects. Until now, the exact personal details of the Red Army officers associated with Kalisz were not exactly known. In this text, the personal data of the military men who fell in the battles for the town of Prosna and immediately after them have been indicated. The article shows the network of dependen- cies, at the top of which stood the war commander. It was a short, several-month period when the actual power in the city and the county was held by a representative of the Red Army administration. Issues related to security in the region and post-war decisions regarding property temporarily put at the disposal of Soviet units are also discussed.
