Summary/Abstract: As the versifier of the Biblical Psalms, the books of Solomon’s Proverbs and Ecclesiastes, poet Eugen Dorcescu delicately delved into a model of Old Testament penitence at the turn of the millennium: King Manasseh. The invocation of Divinity by King Manasseh resonates with the biblical model of prayers by the biblical patriarchs. In his repentance, Manasseh acknowledges the God of his people, honored by his ancestors since the beginning of his chosen lineage. The poet closely versifies, in a melancholic tone, the biblical thread of King Manasseh’s prayer. Reviewing the thread of biblical history, we learn that Manasseh, who humbled himself deeply and prayed fervently, was saved by God and re-turned to Jerusalem. The prayer of King Manasseh, in Eugen Dorcescu’s versification, is so eloquent, so close to its mystic, theological vein, its reading can be considered as a guide for confession.
