Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the presence of French culture in Poland during the 18th century, specifically focusing on the presence of the French language based on a collection of French manuscripts stored in the Jagiellonian Library. Various types of texts are cov- ered here (political, diplomatic, administrative, as well as private correspondence, trav- el journals, scientific treatises, texts relevant to the study of Polish history, etc.) that are preserved in the Jagiellonian Library’s manuscript collection, authored or copied by Poles. The French manuscripts found in these collections are mainly of “Polish” origin, created in Poland; they were written by Poles and they vividly demonstrate the signifi- cant role played by the French language and French culture during the mentioned period.
