Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to present a linguistic analysis concept that can be used to recordand analyse both single-language and cross-linguistic cultural phenomena. All knowledge-basedcommunicative and interactional practices that are subject to constant change through permanentacts of negotiation in discourse are understood as ‘cultural phenomena’. In this context, cross-cultural discourse semantics is advocated as a theoretical umbrella concept that is interested indescribing inter- and intralingual interaction processes with regard to collective acts of negotiationof meaning in order to raise general awareness of the ‘cultural dispersity’ of the respective discourse community. In doing so, it makes use of pragmasemantic analyses on a lexical and conceptual leveland at the same time points to the action-oriented and knowledge-forming character of discursivelyshaped concepts.
