Summary/Abstract: The article on onomatopoeias in the Polish language is a continuation of the study on birds and thus inscribes in the birth and death anniversaries of Julian Tuwim, the master of onomatopoeia. The presented lexemes are mainly verb clusters for which the sounds produced by animals (or the names of such sounds) constitute the lexical foundation. In the analysed linguistic material, the most numerous group comprises of exclamations, primarily those connected to calling and driving away common household and domestic animals. The documented onomatopoeic resources not only increase the knowledge on onomatopoeias in the regional sectors of the language, but also showcase differentiated vocabulary of the Silesian language confronted with the standard and historic Polish language on the basis of the proto-Slavic language.
