Cultural Heritage in the Process of Social, Economic and Environmental Capital Development in the Silesian Voivodeship (as Based on the Survey Results)

Summary/Abstract: For decades the studies of cultural heritage have been the domain of the human sciences. Together with the development of new economic ideas, the interest in their influence on the society’s wellbeing has increased. The article presents the evolution of cultural heritage category, its significance in the process of sustainable development. On the basis of publication analysis, the attitude of the Polish people towards this subject matter in the second decade of the 21st century is shown. The results are extended by the authors’ own survey conducted in 2022 among the inhabitants of Opole Silesia. A dissonance has been found between administration’s attempts to revitalise the heritage and the understanding of its role within the group of the survey participants.
