Summary/Abstract: St. Spirit Church has been a dominant feature of the Opava town for more than seven hundred years. Many researchers have written about history and evolution of the church. No surprise was expected as researchers believed that everything had already been found out. The building archaeology survey in 2022 had to fulfil only one purpose – to carry out modern research according to the up-to-date methodology. But this survey brought many new discoveries and its conclusions were quite surprising.
