The right to effective remedy in the field of digital services

Summary/Abstract: The Digital Services Act aims to create a safer digital space where the fundamental rights of digital service users are protected and a level playing field for businesses is created. The Act introduces important safeguards to ensure that citizens are free to express their views on the enhanced role of users in the online environment and to exercise their other fundamental rights, such as the right to an effective remedy. As regards the feasibility of the latter, it is worth examining: what does the right to an effective remedy mean and what European standards must be met to achieve it?
