Names of methods, tools and devices for catching fish in Kuyavia dialects

Summary/Abstract: The research revolves around the names of methods, tools and devices recorded in Kuyavia dialects along with their com- ponents used for catching fish. The research material comes from the Dictionary of the dialect and culture of Kuyavia [Słownika gwary i kultury Kujaw], Witold Pracki’s glossary of the Ślesin dialect and ethno- graphic studies. The aim of the analysis is semantic and genetic characterization of the mentioned names. Their review shows that native terms dominate, characterized by the presence of many ancient forms. Some of them have a dialect provenance. Among the names, the words of fishing scoops and drifting nets prevail
