Summary/Abstract: The process of proper and full development of an adolescent is largely conditioned by the educational competences of his parents. Among these competences, an extremely important role is played by the parents' communication skills, which can either stimulate or destroy the young person's achievement of a mature personality. At the same time, there is no doubt that parental messages addressed to young people specifically condition adolescents' proper self-esteem. The aim of this article is to show that, both at the level of theoretical analysis and empirical research, a clear correlation between the quality of parental messages and adolescents' mature self-esteem becomes apparent. Awareness of the importance of this issue should therefore prompt both parents and all those involved in the family to take a greater interest in the issue of the desired communication style within the family.
