Summary/Abstract: The goal of this paper is to clarify the preparations to reorganise criminal records database at the beginning of 1950s. In this regards, the study is based on the so-called Klos archive stored in National Archives. The criminal records database is an important tool that contains all information on penalties and punishments. The paper does not follow only legal regulations on saving criminal records, but it also analyses all steps the Ministry of Justice had to undertake to centralise the criminal records database in Czechoslovakia.
