Summary/Abstract: This article is fully devoted to the analysis of factors influencing the interest rate of loans offered by commercial banks. Its purpose is to clarify those elements of which most consumers are unaware, both of their existence and of their impact, because the consumer is not always properly informed of the above when concluding a credit agreement and, consequently, the decision is not always based on a full picture of the consequences and risks of taking out a credit. A large proportion of them remain completely independent of the borrower’s financial situation and are the result of the State’s monetary policy and economic changes that have a direct impact on the financial market and therefore on the products offered by commercial banks. However, there are also factors over which the borrower has an influence, such as the source of income, the use of the funds put at his disposal or the amount of the own contribution in the case of mortgages. In this paper, the author tries to answer the questions that may arise during the completion of formalities at the branch of the lender in the most accessible and professional way, and the answer to at least some of them helps to raise the level of awareness of consumers who are borrowers.
