Summary/Abstract: Archimandrite Neofit Scriban, one of the leading patriots who fought for the national cause of the Union of the Principalities, is evoked in this article. A personality with solid theological and cultural education, Neofit Scriban was a priest and preacher at the Metropolis of Iaşi and a catechist at the public schools of Trei Ierarhi monastery. Neofit Scriban left behind an important work consisting of didactic manuals, translations, speeches, poems, travel notes, other brochures and many articles published in the press of the time. One of his works that shows his involvement in the great event of 1859 is titled Unirea şi neunirea Principatelor (Union and non-union of the Principalities), published in 1856 in Iasi, in fact an articulated speech of great and intense vibration addressed to all Romanians.
