Summary/Abstract: Remembered by the Transylvanian Romanians as an icon of the fi ght for the nation, described as a legend and acknowledged early on as a saint, Metropolitan Andrei Şaguna was the subject of many historical academic works and research. The vision of the great hierarch encompassed the entire Romanian nation and his dream was the entire Orthodoxy. When we refer to the book we mean two levels of cultural achievement and elevation: the religious books and the Scripture. He will create the Printing House (1850) and the Romanian Telegraph, he will print religious books, school text-books and the Holy Scriptures, he will establish educational and cultural institutions covering all of Transylvania. He tried, as father Stăniloae said, to fi ll the broad frameworks of the Church with an appropriate content of religious, moral and cultural life.
