Summary/Abstract: Labor exploitation and its severe forms, forced labour and human trafficking for the purpose of labour exploitation, are present in Europe and in particular in Bulgaria. The discourse on labour exploitation is given increasing prominence in Europe. This article focuses on the prerequisites and manifestations of labour exploitation, accepting it as one of the intermediate levels in the process of worsening working conditions, placing it between the concepts of decent work and modern slavery. The analysis is based on qualitative interviews with low-skilled Bulgarian migrants in the EU countries, and a purposive theoretical sampling approach was used to select the interviewees, seeking to increase the probability of finding victims of labour exploitation among the interviewees.
