The Czechoslovak Red Cross. International Legal Status of the National Organisation of the International Red Cross

Summary/Abstract: The paper focuses on the international legal status of the Czechoslovak Red Cross (ČSČK) as a national organisation of the Red Cross within the meaning of the Geneva Conventions. It describes goals, actual activities and position of the ČSČK in 1948–1989 as these resulted from the social, legal, and political framework of the time, and it compares it with general rules and regulations valid for national organisations of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement that are described in the paper.
