Summary/Abstract: The famous Czech publisher Ignác Leopold Kober (1825–1866) also published exquisite translations of popular French, English and Czech fiction (by Alexandre Dumas the Elder, Paul Féval, Paul de Kock, Charles Dickens, Karel Sabina or Josef K. Tyl) in the first volumes of his German‑language Album Editon (1846–1861). The essay illustrates the transfer between the French, English, Czech and originally German written literature on the basis of the selected volumes of the album, deals with Kober’s adaptations for the album and analyzes the mediating role of the Czech review Denice including its editor, Jakub Malý, who later worked for Kober’s Czech publishing house as an editor of the first Czech encyclopedia – Rieges Slovník naučný.
