Summary/Abstract: The following article is divided in two parts: the fi rst one, of a methodological nature, is a theoretical analysis of the archive as a device for historiographic review, which we will exemplify with the CeDInCI archive (Center for Documentation of Left -wing Culture, Buenos Aires) where we examined the 1930s and 1940s left -wing Argentine cultural magazines. This consultation was aimed at reexamining the Argentine hemerographic fi eld in order to publicize cultural magazines that, in the face of Sur’s hegemony, belong to the periphery but, nevertheless, tried to compete with Ocampo’s magazine in its attempt to internationalization but through Soviet culture. Th us, the second part of the research provides an account of the consulted magazines, of their historiographical interest, and is specifi cally focuses on Orientación and La hora, fundamental dissemination organs for left -wing culture of that period. Specifi cally, we have selected those texts that accounted for intellectuals’ trips to the Soviet Union, as it is a predominant discursive mode among Latin American writers throughout the 20th century, hence our objective is to elucidate the way in which this genre arises and spreads from the thirties.
