Summary/Abstract: This article considers the case of three Marxist critics of culture, whose ideas, born of a common theoretical root linked to Althusserianism (though not only), have circulated very unequally internationally. In order to understand the power dynamics that foster such fl ows, I fi rst address a theoretical framework anchored in Bourdieusian sociology of fi elds and the notions of centre and periphery. I also discuss some of the similarities shared by these three hermeneutic projects. I then develop several explanatory hypotheses on the diff erence in symbolic capital associated with each of these intellectuals, shedding light on or confi rming the transnational processes that, on a general scale, have contributed to consolidating the international centrality of the Anglo-Saxon intellectual fi eld.
