Summary/Abstract: After the Ohrid Archbishopric was abolished in 1767, its dioceses were placed under the jurisdiction of the Constantinople Patriarchate. Subsequently, a portion of these dioceses fell under the jurisdiction of the Bulgarian Exarchy and the Autonomous Church of the Kingdom of Serbia. Despite this territorial division, these church institutions faced challenges related to the allocation of churches and properties within the former dioceses of the Ohrid Archbishopric. Many of these churches became subjects of diplomatic negotiations between state and church authorities. Such negotiations occurred concerning the Church of Saint Spas in Skopje, which was at the centre of prolonged discussions between the Patriarchate of Constantinople and the Kingdom of Serbia. These negotiations aimed to resolve the question of rightful ownership of the church of Saint Spas in Skopje.
