Consequences of Russia’s Aggression Against Ukraine for Africa

Summary/Abstract: The research objective is to show in what areas and how the war in Ukraine is affecting Africa. Some aspects of the conflict’s impact on the region are widely reported (diplomacy, food security). Others are analyzed less frequently. These include such issues as changes in the arms trade market, Africa’s energy policy, the impact on development aid, or the evolution of the military activity of the superpowers in Africa. The research questions that were attempted to answer were: what were the possible changes in these areas and what might be the consequences of these changes for Africa going forward? The research used institutional, systems and statistical analysis methods, among others. The study used secondary data available through mid-February 2022.
