Summary/Abstract: Over the past decade or so, more and more changes have been observed in the health and lives of patients receiving rehabilitation treatments. A huge role in health-promoting, but also disease-promoting behavior is played by the rapid progress of civilization. Unfortunately, the development of civilization also brings negative effects related to the loss or deterioration of health. These include a sedentary work style, lack of exercise, being overweight and the weakening of muscle strength resulting from the use of robots and technological devices to replace human labor in a number of jobs. Physiotherapists draw attention to dysfunctions in the body structure of patients, which is largely caused by excessive use of mobile devices, i.e. smartphones, laptops, tablets and other technological devices. The purpose of this article is to indicate how the development of technology - especially the use of smartphones - affects social and health functioning and to demonstrate the negative effects of excessive device use.
