Summary/Abstract: Moving from the analysis of transnational criminal law as the legal framework to counter cross-border crimes, this article focuses on “the new dimension” of EU criminal competence, that is no longer restricted to Member States’ legislative harmonization and judicial cooperation within the Union, leading to serious rule of law and human rights deficits.
