Summary/Abstract: Work engagement is one of the key factors of organizational success, and the degree of work engagement is related to certain personal and organizational factors. The paper aims to investigate the relationship between demographic variables, self-efficacy, perfectionism, work stress, and work engagement, as well as the role of these factors in work engagement. The sample of respondents consisted of 135 employed persons. Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES), General Self-Efficacy Scale, Burns Perfectionism Scale, and Scale of psychological demands and control at work are used as measuring instruments. The results indicate the existence of a positive relationship between self-efficacy and job control and work engagement. Also, a positive connection was established between psychological demands and perfectionism, as well as job control and work engagement. Furthermore, the hierarchical regression analysis results show the contribution of self-efficacy and job control to work engagement. Due to a clearer understanding of the determinants of work engagement, the results can contribute to better managerial policies in the field of human resources and the implementation of various programs to create healthy and thus competitive organizations.
