DIGITAL PRESENTATION OF THE BUILDING MODEL

Summary/Abstract: The European Construction Sector Observatory (ECSO) has recognized 3D printing technology as one of the future strategies of digital Europe development. With accelerated urbanization, lack of resources and climate change, 3D printing technology is one of the possible ways to achieve a cheaper and faster construction process. The inherent characteristics of 3D printing technology make it naturally compatible with civil engineering. Due to the multi–purpose nature of BIM technology, its application is not only in the visualization of the information model of the building, but it also connects and displays the associated processes in different phases of the project. The paper aims to research the possibilities of connecting building information modelling technology with 3D printing technology and show the advantages and disadvantages of the integration of the mentioned technologies. A practical example will show the process of 3D printing of an information model of a building, from preparation for printing to realization.
