Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present the effects of the comparative research of SzczepanTwardoch’s prose. I analyze Twardoch’s work in many ways: a) which kinds of physicalactivity Twardoch engages in and describes; b) which sports disciplines most often occurin his writing; c) similarities in the presentation of sport in autobiographical narrationsof other authors of the Polish and foreign prose; d) the connection between sport andphilosophy, history of Poland and Silesia together with pseudo-fans, as elements ofcontemporary social reality. Linking elements seemingly remote – supporting, philosophy, sport, and literature – appears to be a risky and surprising operation. However, Polishcontemporary prose supplies us with numerous examples of a successful fusion of these, the marriage of high and low culture: widely-read novels of titled authors practicing sport.A flagship example can be the success of The King of Warsaw by Szczepan Twardoch.
