Georges Peretz and His Followers

Summary/Abstract: In the second half of the twentieth century, the subject of everyday life attracted theinterest of numerous representatives of various intellectual circles. Among them was alsothe French writer Georges Perec. This article sketches the changes made by this, oftenoverlooked, revolution in the literary landscape, initiated by Peretz, by first focusing onthe theoretical context, then on Perec’s oeuvre and contribution to the field, so as to,finally, employ the examples of two contemporary writers – Annie Ernaux and PhilippeDelerm – to discuss how literature presents the theme of everyday life.
