Summary/Abstract: The article aims to show the communicative, artistic, and philosophical potential ofnon-speaking (non-verbal) autistic people. This theme is underexplored in specialistautism literature due to the controversy surrounding some alternative communicationmethods, and it equally absent from humanistic reflection. The article contextualizesnon-speaking autism itself, polemicizes against explaining each type of autism in termsof the absence of the so-called theory of mind, taking from analyses of the feature filmŚubuk directed by Jacek Lusiński and books by non-speaking autistic authors AdamSiłkowski and Ido Kedar. The analyses employ philosophical tools: reflection on thecategories of poiesis (overcoming apraxia through speaking-writing) and the subject,non-speaking yet undoubtedly thinking.
