Summary/Abstract: The report traces the period 1944 – 1948, during which the war for the freedom and independence of Bulgarian literature was fought. On the one side are the progressive writers from the “Literature Front”, “Otechestven Front” and “Rabotnichesko Delo” newspapers, and on the other - the authors from the opposition “Zname”, “Svoboden Narod” and “Narodno Zemedelsko Zname”. The representatives of the two fronts speak different languages, and gradually the opposition voices are silenced. The official language for the period 1944 – 1989 – the language of socialist realism, was introduced.
