FACTORS AFFECTING STUDENT SUCCESS: A SURVEY STUDY ON THE PERSPECTIVES OF TEACHERS AND PARENTS

Summary/Abstract: This research aims to examine the factors affecting student success through a survey on the perspectives of teachers and parents. The research was conducted on a study group consisting of 10 parents and 10 teachers in a secondary school in Adana. An interview form was used as a data collection tool and the data obtained was evaluated with content analysis. Questions for parents focused on factors affecting the student's academic success, the role and contribution of the parent in the educational process, communication channels at school, study strategies at home, and evaluation of student success. Questions for teachers include student-parent cooperation and its importance, communication strategies and methods with parents, parent feedback and evaluation, family cooperation difficulties and strategies, the effect of cooperation with parents on student success and suggestions. The findings show that teacher and parent perspectives are important in determining the factors affecting student success. Research results can contribute to education stakeholders working collaboratively to develop more effective strategies to increase student success.
