Summary/Abstract: The Author highly recommends discussing the peculiarities of current Polish democratic system with strong relation to national and religious identities. She is trying to answer following questions:1. What variants of national identities are mostly engaged in building up democracies in Poland after 1989; 2. Why and what variants of these identities are less engaged in social and cultural process; 3. How these identities are related to the values and institutions of Polish Catholicism; 4. How these social identities are articulatedon the level of the whole society and on the level of special individual and collective actors(party leaders, intellectuals).
